The scripture teaches us that giving is an essential part of obedience as a Christian. In both the Old Testament and the New Testament this principle is found and practiced by believers. Malachi 3:10 states "Bring the tithes (10% of your total gross income) into the storehouse (the place you receive the word of God), that there may be provision in my house, and try me now on this saith the Lord and I will open the windows of Heaven, rebuke the devourer for your sake and pour out blessings that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

Giving tithe and offerings is not only a commandment, but also an act of obedience and an avenue whereby God can bless you. By doing so you are remaining in covenant with God so He can pour out His blessing on us.

His blessing to us is His divine empowerment to prosper and increase us. John 10:10
